I..... Hate.......(?)

It's nearly 25th December. and you what i hate/don't like?

It's something which causes me to clench my fist and hurl with great force towards the side of someones jaw.

This something happens to be the foul mouth which my father owns. Grrr.....prick.

His old age results in his wierd(stupid/retarded) way of thinking. And he doesn't like admitting he's wrong.

Dad is one of two things. My father... and Power/money hungry Gordon Ramsey on God-like levels of PMT.

I'm getting the slight impression that the older he gets, the less of the father he is, and more of the latter he becomes.

Anyway, hope this blog entry didn't spoil your Jolly Christmas Spirit, It's just something I wanted to get off my chest.

Merry Xmas 2005 to you all and a Happy New Year 2006.

The End of the Corridor?

Kai ain't in a good mood at all.

The viva presentation which I had yesterday would be something i'd rather forget.

Corridor, the project which had so much effort put into it, got chucked back in my face.

Why? because my gantt chart was a joke (my reason is because it allows me to be flexible), because i don't know who my audience is, who am i doing this for? Who would want to watch this film?
Well, my answer was made up, "It's for the audience that want to pursue watching the full thing after watching this trailer"

I just lost it when the lecturer (who doesn't want my project to succeed) asked repeatedly, and i barked back, "who doe's it look like its for??? (judging by the trailer you just watched?)"

"WE(!) ask the questions, not you..."

Fine.

As it stands, I think the department believes that i'm dangerously close to doing a BA project.

Right, BA's can get away with doing a film.
What i'm trying to do is make a Film AND make it an interactive media for the web or DVD. Now that requires coding which isn't exactly a bunch of GOTO's.
Oh, another thing, won't that pretty much cover a load about what Multimedia is about? Filming, Lighting, Editing, Music Composing, 3D, Compositing, Rendering, Image manipulating, Programming in a multimedia language such as Actionscript?

I want to go to an employer with my BSc Multimedia degree and say, I made this film, and made it interactive on other media. I did all of the above.

I don't want to go to an employer with my BSc Multimedia degree after doing an ASP/PHP website which doe's some maths server side and looks pretty. All that means is that I can make a pretty ASP/PHP website that can put numbers together and spit out an answer on the client side. Why don't i do a bloody web design degree?

I want a BSc Multimedia degree's worth!!!

Anyway, here's my latest (and possibly final) trailer. Thanks to matt for his help in editing.

The Ending Summer Holiday.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Please take a seat and have your favourite beverage at hand, and may I also suggest listening to some calm soothing music. This may take some time.

With only less than 2 weeks before I go back to Swansea to go out on the final leg of my final year of BSc Multimedia, I just felt like doing a long blog entry :)

This summer has passed reasonably quickly, old memories have faded away, and new ones are about to start.

Most of my hours have been spent in front of my computer, planning the final year project, typing the story of the film that i'm gonna direct; upon return to the Institute. Currently, i've put the project on hold because I've just finished some work in some harsh conditions in London, and i really need time to chill out...(more details about the job in London later).
So far, the story is called Corridor,
The concept is that when a person go to sleep, your mind gets put into an infinite corridor, then you enter any one of the doors to your dream.
However, the main character isn't so lucky, he can't dream because all the doors in the corridor are locked. So for the duration of his sleep, he's stuck in the this infinite corridor, and has been since he could remember.

With this concept in mind, i believe that i could spawn off small stories.
Time will tell.

....Okay, so maybe this blog entry wasn't as long as I made it out to be.
I'm not feeling as typative as i initially thought.

Don't worry, there will be more.

Adieu

It's that time of year again.

Yep, its Mark's 22nd Birthday.

Again, his present is just a mention in my blog, and probably gonna send him a digital message in some shape or form.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Mark. Hope you got some good toys :)

Employment, yay :P

Last week, I embarked on my first taste of paid employment whilst on my summer holiday.

Worked for a injection moulding factory called R.W. Simon for 5 days. (only 5 days because thats what the contract said, better than nothing I guess.)

Work started at 3:40pm and didn't end till 11:40pm.
My work consisted of:

Repeat(0)

Repeat(1)

-Pick up piece of moulded plastic from the tub which the machine continuously spits into.

-Inspect, then pull it apart into its 3 individual components.

-Construct the 2 relevant parts using the jig provided.

-Get a plastic bag sheath that's been prepacked with screws and fittings.
-Insert the components into the plastic sheath.

-Seal the sheath shut.
-Put into box.

Until(1) box contains 50 of the damn things.

Tape the box shut, stick a numbered label onto box and sign it.
Put box onto pallet.

Until(0) shift ends

Most of you programmers should understand my syntax :P

And here's a vid if you really want to see it in live action. B)
Kai doing the jig...thing
It's in 3GP format, or you can rename the extension to MP4 if it don't work.
Quicktime should be able to play this file without fuss.

Umm...

I really couldn't think of a good title for this post, so.... there you have it!

Whats been happening lately?
Well, I've finished my 2nd year without a hitch; didn't need to rush any work, I handed in all my work in good time. So I had more time to do my many other things.

A bit of bad happenings came around, Matt ended up in hospital at 6am in the morning, because he foot swelled up like a football. I heard it was rheumatoid arthritis. Nasty stuff, later that day, I paid Matt a surprise visit to the hospital.

Phil came down the same day too to, we went out and did the usual things,
Matts lady friend, GiGi came down at the same time, so we all went out together over the following days. Mmm... Fondue, Gigi made us some nice fondue, with strawberries and bananas. so nice.
(Whoever thought i had a thing about fondue and feet, please shuddup. you know who you are.)

Since it was Gigi's first time in Wales, i took her to Rhossili to partake in the viewing of the el naturale eye candy of the country.

Phil, Me, Gigi et Matt
Other things which i spent the remaining weeks of term was, I went to Alton Towers with Matt for the day,
It was such a great day! I haven't been to Alton Towers for at least 10 years i think.
We went on all the rides there, including Rita. Phwar, what a rush! 0 to 62 in 2.5 seconds. The ride ended in seconds, but we queued for the best part of an hour!

Pretty much everything was new there since I last went there a decade ago. Can't stress enough how much of a cool day it was.

Anyway, the end of term came round, and it was the hard time to say good bye to some people, with 'the girl' (read my earlier posts if you don't know about 'the girl'), since we kept communication to a minimum, I wanted to depart each other on good terms, so we won't have any on going hard feelings.
"It's YOUR fault, but... yea, lets go out for a coffee, set things right."
I won't say no more. We let things go to plan, then when she left, she was just a distant memory... maybe.

Time went on, I moved stuff into my new house, and I packed the contents of my room into my car; lowering my cars backside by an inch or so :P Lowered baby!

---

I've been home for 3 weeks now. Dad's been keeping me busy, i'm helping him rebuild our backyard covering.
It's 10+ years old, and made of corrugated poly carbonate sheets, the years of being bashed by the elements have made it leaky and partly mossy. So dad's ordered a load of poly carb wafers and timber to replace it all.
No hiring of monkeys to sort it all out, just me and dad.

Today, its 80% done, give us 2-3 days of non-rainy days to finish it.
I'll probably eventually show the before and after shots in my next post.

Well, thats pretty much summing up what i've been doing over the last month.

Till next time.

Simply breath taking...

Got out of bed at 4:30am and went down the beach armed with the camera, camcorder and tripod.

Between the hours of 5am to just after 6am, I witnessed one of the worlds ultimate natural eye candy.

Now i'm going to share it with you... clicky -->> Sunrise

I also filmed it.... but I kinda misjudged the tide. The camcorder was moved 3-4 times as the tide caught it repeatedly.
Sunrise Xvid (3.69mb)

Might go film it again. w/o moving the camera at all....

right, bed time!!
ZZZZZzzz...

BravoTEK films presents...

Good god, I've been crazy with my money these few weeks,

Spent a large portion of my student loan on a rather good camcorder,
a 3CCD Panasonic MiniDV.
ph3@r my filming skills.

Along with a the bit of spare time I have, I also made a triple layer jelly.... which I buggered up..... bugger.. damn condensed milk. and damn my jelly mixing skills. too much water. The milk penetrated the jelly :(

I've found this hilarious picture on 4chan
Couldn't stop laughing my ass off.

Anyway, I'll leave it on that humourous note.

Till some other time...

2 weeks gone, 2 assignments done... 1 remaining week to do the other 3?...

Bugger.

Well, Got my marketing mix report done.
Explaining how l33t my takeaway can be compared to some fictional chinese takeaway chain which has opened up nearby.
It's mostly explained in around 2.5k words. Could've padded an extra 1k of words, but really couldn't be arsed. The lecturer wants 2.5k, she gets 2.5.

Next up, Light Fantastic, the assignment where I have to make a light show using 3D Studio Max.
I needed to use a minimum of 44 lights; adjusting each one individually was a pain in the arse.
If you wanna see the finished product, looky here! (You need xvid)
Light Fantastic (4287kb)
That took about a week to do, but that was because most of the time was spent learning how to use 3D Max in the first place. I reckon i could've done that in a day if i knew back then what i know now.

the 3 other courseworks, hmm, lets see...

....umm

Authoring 2 - Author a personal digital CV, and make a fully functional MP3 player (with skin).

Student Centred Project - Make interactive 'video-based' game.

Visual Programming - Make a simple game using VB6.

ooh, thats about it! I originally thought i had 4. ah well, bonus!

Work aside, how have i been? I guess i've been alright.

These easter holidays have been spent mostly working on assignments, working in the takeaway, playing the odd game on the recently aquired 42" Plasma TV :D, watching the odd film with mum whilst dad is out pubbing, having pub lunches with parents in nearby towns, acting as the family chauffer.

Not much else really i want to talk about at this point in time.

Until next time...

after a bloody long stroll....

I'm blimin' knackered.

Woke up this morning, txt'ed the words;
"Why do you let x cheat on his girlfriend? was what you said back then all lies? Am I now insignificant? Why have you made me suffer? Why did you two lie?"

then I left the house and began the long walk of sane.

Starting from my house in Brynmill at around half past midday,
I walked into uni campus,
then out the front gates onto mumbles road,
all the way past Black Pill,
all the way past Mumbles,
Past the 'Itchy "Pussy"' (some of you locals should know what i'm on about :D )
Down to the end of Mumbles road,
Onto the hill side path,
Towards Mumbles Head,
Past Caswell,
Through Langland,
Onto Newton Road,
Past the White Rose,
Into 'The Junction' to grab a hot choc,
Along the Sands where the tide was out,
Past the County Hall,
Then all the way down the West Pier.

A total of about 14 miles of walking. Ending at before 6pm.

Bracchi, the nice guy that he is, picked me up from the Marina and we had a bite to eat.

On this long walk, I had learned many things, some good and some bad;

Walks in the afternoon and evening do your body some good.

On a cold windy day, be sure to bring a scarf.

Long walks may cause pain to those of us that are unfit! I've got a few blisters brewing >_<

Truth hurts.

Emotions could mess up your judgement.

Love makes you do crazy things.

When looking back, do your best to remember the good things in life and just try to forget the bad things.

Look forward with your chin up and take it with pride, expect shit to happen, and don't let it blow you off track. Fight back!

From now on, things will be different.

It has stopped...

...Nothing moves.

Not even I myself feel like I do.

Empty space, where nothing exists.
There I am, thrown out into such a place.

It has stopped, nothing moves.

I am at a 'standstill'...

One appreciates life.

I breath, my body moves, I laugh, cry and grieve.

But... I haven't moved forward anywhere.

I am at a 'standstill'...

To a heart like mine, a small breeze blew in...

At first, i thought it was something petty.

But that wind covered me completely.

It wrapped around me so warmly... it felt good.

I flowed with that pleasant breeze, it felt special to be close to it.

But one day, the warmth left without warning.

The Pain followed.

-----------

Just to briefly let you know what went on:

I had very strong feelings for this girl that I've been in contact with for over a year.

She moves into my digz, along with my housemates.

We live a happy student life for a few months.

Shit starts to happen, one of my housemates (who's already got a girlfriend) gets really friendly with the girl.
I never got to tell her how i really felt about her, so i got desperate and told her straight all my feelings for her.

A comprimise was made, we went back to happy student life mode. (or so i thought).
My housemate says that what he did was wrong, and shouldn't have started in the first place.

The girl just.... respects what I tell her. and we just remain friends, nothing more.

She even asks how i would feel if they did become much more than just friends. I told her the truth; I wouldn't be happy.
Also, she wondered if either myself or her would have to leave the house if this was such a burden.... that was the last thing that anyone would've wanted.

A month down the line, guess what? this evening, they get (more than) friendly again.

The housemate that i thought i knew for just over a year, lied to me. and is cheating on his current girlfriend again.

and the girl is just going back on her words.

I give them my final word as they were both in her room: "My silence doesn't mean that i've accepted what you 2 are doing is ok."

From now, I won't be speaking with those 2 as friends. I don't know them.

This won't be forgotten.

My questions are:

to the females that read this blog:
Do you find a guy who isn't single more attractive than one who is?

Would you let your new boyfriend cheat on his previous girlfriend?

What should I do with either of them from now on?

-----

to the males that read this blog:
If you were a 'good' person, why would you cheat on your girlfriend?

What should I do?

Happy New Year 2k5

Yo peeps,

Happy New Year.

Hope you're recovering from this early mornings festivities.

Currently finishing off as many of my assignments as possible.

Need to get ready to go back to Swansea next week.

Ooh, New Years Resolutions...........Nope, can't think of any.

Well, maybe, less pr0n and procrastination, more work harder...... wait, didn't i say that last year? :S

Try to be less dependant on my parents, especially my father.
